He is a Spanish television, theater, and film actor, director, and voice actor. His best-known role was as Juan Cuesta in the comedy television series "Aquí no hay quien viva" (Here's No One Lives), broadcast on Antena 3. He later went on to play Enrique Pastor in the Telecinco adaptation, "La que se avecina" (The One That Comes). However, he has been dubbing since the mid-1970s; throughout his career, he has dubbed actors such as Patrick Swayze, Tim Allen, Hugh Grant, Brandon Lee, and Woody Harrelson. He is also known for providing the Spanish voice of Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise and Marlin in the films Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. In 2021, he suffered a stroke, which led him to step back from acting to focus on his recovery. He has not given interviews since 2021. In 2024, his daughter confirmed that Gil was slowly recovering and that she doubted he would be able to return to acting. In November of the same year it was confirmed that he would not return to the world of acting.
